Cave Temple Exploration
Discover five sacred caves adorned with murals and Buddha statues.
The Dambulla Cave Temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is Sri Lanka’s largest and best-preserved cave temple complex. Perched atop a 160-meter-high rock, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a sacred pilgrimage destination that has been in continuous use for over 2,000 years.
The complex consists of five main caves, each filled with magnificent murals and over 150 statues of Lord Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and ancient kings. The intricate paintings cover more than 2,100 square meters of walls and ceilings, making it one of the finest collections of Buddhist art in South Asia.
From the temple grounds, visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding plains, with Sigiriya Rock visible in the distance. As both a cultural treasure and a living place of worship, Dambulla offers a deeply spiritual and awe-inspiring experience.
